Lance Sherlock

Lance Sherlock is currently a Staff Engineer at John Deere’s Construction Division. Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, Lance grew up in central Iowa.

In 1991, Lance started his career in 1991 at General Motors as a Vehicle Electrical Systems Engineer for what became the Delphi Division in Flint, Michigan. Within GM, he also worked within the Advance Research and Development unit at the Proving Grounds in Novi, MI. In 1997, he joined Technology Resource Group in Urbandale, Iowa, as an Electronics Engineer. In 1999, he joined John Deere Construction & Forestry in Dubuque, Iowa, as an Electrical Engineer. In his many years with John Deere, Lance has held many roles focusing on product development, including managing Deere’s electrical and software test organization and leading systems design for a ground-up design of an excavator product line, built in Tianjin, China for markets outside of the Americas. Lance has a strong reputation as an innovator. He currently holds 45 patents, in addition to multiple trade secrets and defensive publications. Lance has been honored to receive many Deere innovation awards, including the prestigious Kevin Moriarty Award for Innovation. In addition to his groundbreaking technical work, Lance is an in-demand mentor and advocate.

He received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Iowa in 1991 and also holds a Certificate in Systems Design and Management from MIT.
