Ron Briggs

Ron Briggs is the Georgia Tech Partnerships Manager for Sandia National Laboratories and has worked at the labs for 26 years. Ron graduated from Georgia Tech in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and later received a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of New Mexico. Prior to coming to the Compound Semiconductor Research Laboratory (CSRL) at Sandia in 1998, he was on the EECE research faculty at Georgia Tech and held semiconductor process engineering roles for both at Ktech and Intel. At Sandia, he held individual contributor and team leader roles in the CSRL and MESAFab before becoming the Heterojunction Bipolar Transistor (HBT) Product Realization Team (PRT) lead. As HBT PRT lead, he led the development and production of eight new products while driving the deployment of modern manufacturing approaches (2D matrix marking, Electronic Production Control Systems, Web-based product acceptances, new semiconductor burn-in capabilities, etc.) across MESA. From 2019-2023, Ron has been manager of the MESA Compound Semiconductor Microelectronics department where he has been instrumental in establishing strategic plans and partnerships across the laboratory while leading a diverse portfolio of R&D, technology maturation and production programs.
